TGS NIL Connect and 180 Degrees Academy Join Forces to Expand NIL and Sports-Business Education
The new Houston collaboration will combine elite prep education, leadership development, NIL instruction and hands-on exposure to careers across the business of sports.

HOUSTON — 180 Degrees Academy and Truly Grand Sports NIL Connect have announced a new strategic partnership designed to create a broader development pathway for students and student-athletes in Houston.
180 Degrees is a newly opened elite prep academy based in Houston and led by Henry Sims. The academy's vision extends beyond traditional academic and athletic preparation. Its plans include introducing students to the many career opportunities that exist on the business side of sports, including broadcasting, announcing, sponsorship activation, video production and other areas of the sports industry.
Through the partnership, TGS NIL Connect will implement NIL education into the student curriculum, giving students practical instruction around name, image and likeness, athlete branding, compliance awareness, sponsorship opportunities and the business responsibilities that can come with building a personal brand.
Building a Wider Sports Education Pipeline
The collaboration is intended to expose students to an ecosystem that reaches well beyond competition. By combining the prep academy's education and leadership model with TGS NIL's sports-business and NIL platform, the organizations plan to help students better understand how athletics, media, entrepreneurship, branding and business intersect.

Truly Grand Sports NIL was founded by Myke Darrough, a 15-year sports innovator, alongside Managing Partner Christina Hilstock. The organization's work centers on NIL education, athlete development, partnerships, events and creating opportunities that connect athletes with brands and resources.
Brandon Prince, Director of Corporate Partnerships for TGS, helped originate and develop the partnership, bringing the two organizations together around their shared focus on education, opportunity and student development.
A student may aspire to compete at the next level — or discover a future producing broadcasts, activating sponsorships or building brands behind the scenes.
More Than Athlete Development
A central goal of the relationship is to prepare students for multiple possible futures in sports. A student may aspire to compete at the next level, but another may discover an interest in producing broadcasts, calling games, creating video content, activating sponsorships, building brands or working behind the scenes in sports business.
That approach gives the partnership a dual focus: helping student-athletes understand the changing NIL landscape while also exposing the wider student body to career and entrepreneurial opportunities throughout the sports industry.
